Illinois: interpreter for the deaf licensure act signed

Governor Blagojevich has signed a law establishing a licensing system to oversee professional services for people who are deaf or hard-of-hearing. Licensure will not be mandatory for an interpreter whose services are requested by an individual who is aware the interpreter is not licensed.
