Board members of the New Jersey Board of Nursing have requested that the legislature investigate the Board's financial situation and staff shortage. The Board's executive director has resigned, and board members have noted a "gradual lessening of standards" over the years as less staff is available to handle investigations and issuing of licenses, as well as eight vacancies on the 13-member board. Lawmakers have indicated the intention to review the situation at an upcoming legislative hearing.
