Changes to the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council's fitness to practise legislation came into effect late July. Changes will allow a case examiner to give advice, issue warnings or recommend undertakings to conclude less serious cases without a full hearing. Warnings and undertakings would be published online, but advice would not be made public. Changes will merge the Conduct and Competence Committee and the Health Committee into one Fitness to Practise Committee. Practise committee panels will now be able to decide whether conditions of practise or suspension orders need to be reviewed.
