A bill under consideration in Arkansas would allow participants in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program to apply for nursing licenses. The state nursing board changed its policy in 2017 and began denying licenses to DACA participants. Supporters of the new bill cite the nursing shortage in Arkansas and the need to recruit and retain nurses in the state.
