Social Work England is considering the re-introduction of student registration as part of a "whole profession" approach to regulation. The whole profession approach to social work regulation would look at "all types of social work and the social work career journey together, rather than as individual parts," with a goal of better understanding and addressing the challenges faced by the profession. The goal of the proposed student registration would be to better support the transition from education to practice.
