Regulations coming into force in June in Alberta will require regulatory colleges to provide funding and access to treatment and counseling to patients who have been sexually abused by a health professional. Patients must file a written complaint and have five years from the finding of unprofessional conduct to request funding. The college may recover the costs from the health professional after a finding of unprofessional conduct.
