Due to legislative amendments in Bill 229 (Schedule 33), the Ontario College of Teachers will transition to a new governance structure over the course of 2021. Changes will include a reduction in the number of Council members (with nine members appointed by the Council and nine members appointed by the Lieutenant Governor), the establishment of an Adjudicative Body of Chairs to perform some functions currently performed by the Executive Council, establishment of a Selection and Nominating Subcommittee, and the appointment of a Transition Supervisory Officer to oversee the changes. A new requirement will be implementation of a sexual abuse prevention program and changes related to certain acts of professional misconduct.
