The US Department of Defense has approved grant funding to the Council of State Government's National Center for Interstate Compacts to provide support to professional organizations in five occupations to develop interstate compacts that could aid military spouse license portability. The selected occupations are teaching, social work, cosmetology, massage therapy, and dentistry/dental hygiene. Draft legislative language will be developed so that states can establish consistency of licensing requirements. The grants will also fund the development of a shared licensure database that states can access.
