Illinois: new regulatory appointments
Illinois Governor J. B. Pritzker has appointed Deborah Hagan as secretary of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. Hagan has previously served as a bureau chief, deputy bureau chief, and assistant attorney general as well as a consumer protection advocate with the Attorney General's Office.
Mario Treto Jr. has been appointed as director of real estate at IDFPR after serving as a deputy city attorney.

VA DPOR director removed
The Virginia General Assembly, voting on gubernatorial appointments, has voted to remove Jay DeBoer as director of the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation. Last year, an audit of the agency by the Joint Legislative Audit and Review Commission found issue with the agency's management, noting such things as an excessive amount of time to fill vacant positions, IT systems that created inefficiencies in the licensing process, and complaints about people in key positions not receiving annual employee evaluations.
Professional Engineers Ontario appoints new registrar
Professional Engineers Ontario has appointed Johnny Zuccon as registrar, following his service as interim registrar since February 2018. Mr. Zuccon has previously served as PEO's deputy registrar for tribunals and regulatory affairs, deputy registrar for standards and regulations, director of professional affairs and manager of external relations.

UK NMC welcomes new chief executive
Andrea Sutcliffe has officially taken her position as chief executive and registrar at the Nursing and Midwifery Council in the UK. The new director said she is in "listening mode" for the nurses, midwives, and nursing associates, those that receive care, and partners in the health sector. Sutcliffe has 30 years' experience in health and social care with a number of organizations.
